Description
Set at the end of the 20th Century, you get to play as one of two agents working for the Confidential Mission Force (CMF). CMF was established to combat the threat of terrorism throughout the world. Utilising the Gun peripheral make your way through the 3 stages. You can gain extra points for 'Justice Shots' that disable the enemy without killing them. Incorporates mini-games between each stage that determines the course the next level will take.
Confidential Mission is the first Dreamcast game since House of the Dead 2 to utilise the light-gun peripheral. But at least it has been worth the wait.
And a fantastic excuse it is too to get down to some serious blasting. Ported direct from the arcade machine, the game places you in the shoes of agents desperate to retrieve a satellite-controlling device from a shady corporation. This is all an excuse for full-on blasting action, of course, with plenty of little twists to keep you interested along the way. And, should you have a second light gun, the two-player mode is simply sublime.
Despite the game featuring only three missions in total, to get to the end you need fast reactions, nerves of steel and the perseverance to get past some ruthless end-of-level baddies. Yet it's worth it. For Confidential Mission is not only one of the best light-gun games on any console, it's also the latest slice of arcade gaming heaven to hit the Dreamcast and a further example as to why Sega's machine will be so missed when it finally goes off sale. For now though, strap yourself in and experience the arcade-game specialists in mighty fine form.

Un groupe de terroristes a pris le contrôle d'un redoutable satellite à laser, devenant ainsi les maîtres du monde. Plongez au coeur de l'action dans confidential mission où vous incarnez l'agent Howard Gibson ou Jean Clifford. Votre mission sera très délicate voire impossible. Un seul objectif: reprendre le contrôle de l'appareil. Vos armes: la manette ou le gun. A travers les modes Agent Academy, Partner et Another World, aurez-vous l'étoffe d'un héros pour sauver le monde des griffes du maléfiques Agarès ...
Adapté du jeu d'arcade de Sega, Confidential Mission mélange agréablement jouabilité des Virtua Cop et scénario d'espionnage à la James Bond dans un titre sans surprise mais terriblement défoulant. Après avoir sauvé le monde des zombies dans House of the Dead 2, ce sont cette fois de dangereux terroristes que les rois de la gâchette vont devoir exterminer. Car, malgré la fin de la guerre froide, la menace de guerres et d'attentats n'a pas disparu. Un groupuscule du nom d'Agares a pris le contrôle d'un satellite espion qu'il compte reprogrammer en arme redoutable. C'est donc un travail pour les deux meilleurs agents de la Confidential Mission Force : Howard Gibson (l'agent secret playboy façon smoking-nœud pap') et Jean Clifford (la "James Bond girl" de service). Incarnant l'un ou l'autre de ces personnages, le joueur doit compléter 3 missions scénarisées à l'aide du Dreamcast Gun. En clair, il lui faut tirer sur tout ce qui ressemble de près ou de loin à un méchant, en prenant soin d'éviter les civils. Chaque niveau est entrecoupé de mini-épreuves d'adresse et/ou de rapidité, et ponctué par un affrontement contre un boss plutôt retors. On retrouve l'habituel mode d'entraînement pour se faire la main, ainsi qu'une option fort appréciable permettant de jouer à deux simultanément. Malgré sa durée de vie limitée – défaut dont souffre la majorité des titres issus de l'arcade –, Confidential Mission a l'avantage d'être l'un des seuls jeux du genre disponibles sur la console. Ce qui le rend indispensable à tous les possesseurs du pistolet Dreamcast.

Schon lange hat es kein Dreamcast-Spiel mehr gegeben, bei dem man die Light-Gun zum Einsatz bringen konnte. Aber endlich hat sich das Warten gelohnt -- denn nun haben Dreamcast-Besitzer wieder einmal einen Grund, sich ernsthaft mit der Ballerei zu befassen!
Und einen fantastischen Grund obendrein! In Confidential Mission, das direkt auf dem gleichnamigen Automatenspiel aufbaut, übernehmen Sie die Rolle von Agenten, die verzweifelt darum bemüht sind, eine Satellitensteuerungsvorrichtung aus den Händen einer zwielichtigen Gesellschaft zurückzuholen. Da hat man natürlich allen Grund für ungebremste Balleraction, und jede Menge kleine Wendungen, die über das Spiel verteilt sind, sorgen dafür, dass Sie bis zum Schluss an den Monitor gefesselt bleiben. Und für den Fall, dass Sie eine zweite Light-Gun besitzen -- der Doppelspielermodus ist einfach klasse!
Obwohl das Spiel aus nur drei Missionen besteht, brauchen Sie zum Erreichen des Ziels schnelle Reaktionen, Nerven aus Stahl sowie die Ausdauer, an einigen der ruchlosesten Bösewichte vorbeizukommen, die einem so kurz vor Beendigung eines Levels noch begegnen können. Aber die Mühe lohnt sich. Confidential Mission ist nicht nur eines der besten Light-Gun-Spiele überhaupt, es ist zudem das jüngste Produkt aus dem Automatenspiel-Paradies für die Dreamcast und ein weiteres Beispiel dafür, warum diese Sega-Maschine so sehr vermisst werden wird, wenn sie endgültig vom Markt kommt.
